Ecclesiastes 11:13; Psalm 72:1

The eye of God looked upon him for good, and He raised him from his humility, and exalted his head: and many wondered at him, and gave honour to God. Ps. How good is God to Israel, to those who are right of heart. Glory be to the Father.

Verse 1. Asaph. See Ps. xlix. We shall not undertake to decide whether he composed or only sung this psalm; (Bert.) or whether he lived under David or Josaphat, or rather during the captivity. Those who attribute all the psalms to David, get rid of many such inquires: but they are involved in other difficulties, (C.) which are not insurmountable. H. — How.
