Introit of Saints Nereus, Achilleus, Domitilla, and Pancras

Psalm 32:18-20

Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear Him, hoping in His mercy, alleluia: to deliver their souls from death; for He is our helper and protector, alleluia, alleluia. Ps. Rejoice in the Lord, ye just: praise becometh the upright. Glory be to the Father.

Verse 20. Waiteth. Heb. “longeth.” H. — Protector. Heb. “shield.” Infidels deride the confidence of the just, as an effect of pride, supposing it is beneath the dignity of God to take notice of so small a creature, which he governs so many worlds. But if there be other worlds besides this, God is sufficient for all; (Bert.) and he will not neglect the work which his hands have deigned to form. H.
