Introit of Sunday Within the Octave of Christmas

Wisdom 18. 14-15

While all things were in quiet silence, and the night was in the midst of her course, Thine almighty Word, O Lord, leaped down from heaven from Thy royal throne. Ps. The Lord hath reigned, He is clothed with beauty: the Lord is clothed with strength, and hath girded Himself. V. Glory be to the Father.

Verse 14. Course. This description of the decree, or angel of the Lord, is most magnificent. The Church applies it to Christ’s nativity, who is thought to have been born at midnight. C. — It insinuates his coming, when the world should enjoy a profound peace, though buried in the darkness of ignorance. W.
